I am researching the "Whitney" family of Weld, Maine, Franklin County. I have researched back to Jeremiah Whitney, born April 17, 1766. Jeremiah married Lydia Cole (born June 7, 1766) between October/November 1790 in Turner, Maine by Rev. John Strickland. I have a copy of the entry in the Turner, Maine vital records.

I am looking for additional information on Jeremiah Whitney and Lydia Cole. Such as who Jeremiah's parents were, where Jeremiah was born, how he came to settle in Greene, Maine in 1786 and moving on to settle in Weld, Maine in about 1806. He settled in Weld, Maine, Franklin County, where he took up 160 acres of new land, cleared and improved it, and erected upon it a good set of buildings.
