This research has just begun. So far I have traced my husband's family back to his gggrandparents William Pepper and Sarah Ann Saxilby who had a farm at Wentworth in Yorkshire. I think - not yet proven, that his father was Robert Pepper born around 1797.
William Pepper married a Mary Elizabeth Bentcliffe whose father, John, was transported to West Australia in 1865 on the Norwood.John married Maria Staniforth, born 1835
The maternal side of the family gives Clarissa Avil (my mother in law) daughter of Edward Avil of Wickersley,(1864-1937) Yorkshire, and Martha Jane Peniston (1864) Edward's parents were John Avil and Hannah Lister, John was son of William Avil and Mary Clayton while Hannah was daughter of Henry Peniston and Sarah Barker.
