I have been researching our family surname of "Perozo" and its ancestry for quite some time and the story that my grandparents always told was as follows: We know that there were originally several brothers that we believed came from Spain and landed in Cuba in the early 1800's. We know that two or three stayed in Cuba the others ones left to Santo Domingo, Venezuela and the U.S. It was one of the ones that remained in Cuba that my family directly descends from. His name was Joaquin Perozo. He married Amalia Lemes and had two sons we believe. My great grandfather, Miguel Perozo who married Caridad Palomino-Pelaez and Luis Felipe Perozo who imigrated to the U.S. in the late 1800's. My great grandfather had 8 kids! The twins Amalia Perozo and Louisiana "Lula" Perozo. Miguel Angel Perozo, Luis Felipe Perozo, Joaquin Perozo (my grandfather), Juan "Pancho" Perozo, Rafael Perozo and Eduardo Enrique Perozo. The majority of the family settled in Nuevitas, Camaguey Cuba until the coming of Fidel Castro. At that point the lost uncle in the U.S. Luis Felipe Perozo had passed away but told his two daughters, Aurora and (Natasha or Natalia) that they had relatives in Cuba and that in the event that things would get bad to search them out. Well things got bad and they searched for any Perozo's in Cuba and Found their cousin Luis Felipe Perozo by the way named after their father! They brought him to the U.S. and well the rest of my family followed. Here in the U.S. we settled mostly in Miami, but the family spread to Puerto Rico, New York, and California. my research has been to find the relatives of the original Perozo's that landed in Cuba and to trace their family back to Europe. I just starting the Family Tree but I hope that I will be able to fill in some gaps with the help of the worl wide web!
