His brother, William, andsister, Rachael, also married Smiths, and they may have been from thesame family. According to the 1830 census, there was one male age 20-30living in the household, two females under 5, one female 5-10, one female20-30, and one female 70-80. Neighbors of Joel and his family in GeorgesTownship were Thomas Woodle, William Woodle and Joseph Smith. Joel'sbrother, Joseph, and his family lived in Springhill Township. Joel died 4 February 1832 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. According tohis tombstone in Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, GeorgesTownship, Fayette County, Joe was 26y. 8m. 0d. of age when he died whichwould mean he was born 4 June 1805. Which birth date is correct isuncertain. After Joel's death, his widow, Ann Marie, moved to Green County,Wisconsin, in 1836 with the other Woodles who moved to WisconsinTerritory at that time. In 1841 Ann married Eli Burbank, a widower, inGreen County.
