| I am researching the MAC Donald family. Other pertinent names for the MAC Donald's include Briggs, Thompson, Bingay and Spinney. The MAC Donald's, Briggs', Thompson's and Spinney's seem to come from the New England area; and Westport, and Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia,Canada. My husband also is researching the Petty family. Other pertinent names for the Petty's include Thomason, Whaley, Crawford, Alred, and Culpepper. The Petty's and Thomason's seem to come from the Alabama, Florida, and Georgia areas. In this line we have found "William Harris Crawford (1772-1834) who was born in Nelson County, VA. He was a Presidential candidate of the Democratic-Republican Party in 1824. He served as Minister to France 1813-1815, Secretary of War 1815-1816, and Secretary of Tresury 1816-1825. Under Presidents James Madison and James Monroe. For the last seven years of his life he was a judge of the northern circuit court of Georgia."(Microsoft, Encarta 98) Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated and I will be glad to help anyone that I can. An alternate e-mail address is tpetty@iamerica.net. Thank You. |
