NEWTON E. PHILLIPS DEAD

One of Scott County's well known and well beloved citizens passed to his final reward Thursday morning, when the spirit of N.E. Phillips of Johnson township, anwsered the call of the Death Angel. He had been seriously ill for a few months, and all that loving hands could do was done for his relief.
He would have been 88 years of age Oct. 16 and it was a life well spent in doing those things that count in life. His widow, Charles, Harry, Grant Phillips, and Mrs. Perry Nicholson, Children of his widow, and three sons and two daughters by a former marriage, Joe, Dean and James Phillips, and Mrs. Eliza Whitsett and Mrs. Florence Layton, survive to morn his death.
Newton Phillips was among one of our best citizens, and his death will be a distinct loss.
