I have my family traced back to Rene Piatt in the 1600s. The Adams County Piatts start in the early 1800s. Benjamin Piatt, Sr, settled in this county around 1800. He was with a second wife at this time, Mary Polly Waddell. They had several children. The names and numbers vary depending on the researcher. My line next goes to Benjamin Piatt, Jr. He was married to Elmira Lavina Bayless. They had several daughters, but only one son, Jackson Pierce Piatt, my Great Grandfather. He married Barbara Ellen Chamblin. They had three sons and three daugters. The children were William Robert, George Benjamin, Mark (my Grandfather), Nora Ann, Emaline, and Allie Mae. Another child was born to the mother prior to their marriage. This was Hamer Chamblin. My Grandfather married Grace Heisler and they had four sons and four daughters, one of which died at an early age. There children were Carlos Berlin, Lester Dale, Mary Alberta, Floyd Harold, Pauline, Lily Virginia, Charles William, and Betty Jean. My Father was Lester Piatt who first married Roxie Keaton. Two sons came from this marriage, James Dale and John Darrell. After a divorce, he married Mildred Nelson. There was one daughter, Diana Gertrude.

Allie Mae is a daughter of Jackson and Barbara Piatt. She was married to Leroy Taylor on November 6, 1916. Allie was born on September 4, 1899 and died on March 13, 1947. People say she died of a broken heart because her husband committed suicide in 1940 because he had been accused of a murder that was probably a hunting accident.
