What to find out who I am, On my fathers side of the family we are from Hannover, Germany. After coming to America they settled in Nebraska and Colorado.
On my mothers side of the family, Johnson, my great grandfather came to America from Sweden. This side of the family I can trace back to the Monarchs of England through the Ewell side of the family, to George Washington. My great grandmother Lucy Josephine Ewell Johnsons, side of the family is well established in the south, with connections to civil war general, Richard Stoddert Ewell, and his brother the longest reining President of William and Mary College in Williamsburg West Virginia, Benjamin Stoddert Ewell. This family is connected to Comte Charles De Jolie, Earl in France.
On my mothers mother side (Walther), there is a great great grandmother by the name of Mary Jane Foster, that has been told that she is related in some way to the composer Stephen Collins Foster, but I am unable to verify this, and would love if anyone know more about this. She married a William H. Whitlock, he died in or around 1895, They had five children, Minnie, Matt, Ollie, William (Willy) and Desse, my great grandmother, and they were all born in Guntersville, Alabama.
Would love any information on any name in my family.
