Unidentified Photographs

Updated July 27, 2008

About Our Family Research

These unidentified photographs are mostly from the Pierce, Wilson and Szpor families of Palo Pinto County, Texas. The Pierces and Wilsons lived around Gordon, and the Szpors lived in Thurber and Strawn before moving to a farm near Gordon.

Family Photos
  • Unidentified Couple (79 KB)
This is labeled as Albert and Viola (Wilson) Crawford, but it is not Albert. The lady looks like Viola but could be a relative. This picture belonged to Cora Wilson Pierce, Viola's sister.
  • Unidentified Twin on Right (897 KB)
Other half of "unidentified twin on left." I wonder if they are Mona and Myrhl Jiant, born 1903, who were first cousins to Lela Pierce Carson.
  • Unidentified Twin on Left (756 KB)
This photo is broken in half and was too large to scan together. This is from the collection of Epple Carson Archer.
  • Group Outing, Coalville, Texas, 16 October 1903 (111 KB)
We've identified 7 people in the photo: Webb Pierce (on white horse), Cora Wilson (center holding doll), Sim Wilson (seated center with guitar), Sarah Kyle (standing left of Sim), Drusilla Wilson (in white dress), Emmett Pierce (seated left of Drusilla), Viola Wilson (far right).
  • Coalville, Texas, 16 October 1903 (133 KB)
These people are also in the other group picture. We think this is at Clayton Spring on Clayton Mountain in Palo Pinto Co TX.
  • Group at Lovers Retreat? (275 KB)
"Lela and Mr. Gardner" is written on the back of this photo. We think it was made at Lovers Retreat in Palo Pinto Co TX about 1902. Standing l. to r. are Viola Wilson, unidentified, Emmett Pierce, Drusilla Wilson, unidentified, Lela Pierce and Sim Wilson. Man seated at left is probably Mr. Gardner.
  • Unidentified Couple from Strawn or Thurber (102 KB)
This was in Kazimierz Georg Szpor's album, but it wasn't labeled.
