I have spent a lot of time researching all the branches of my family. I am particularly interested in the descendants of Samuel Waye, born in England; the Waitts who changed the name after coming to Malden, MA; the Penns of Penn's Store, VA, and the Penns of Reidsville, NC. My great-grandfather was a Dr. Thomas I. or J. Hughes who came to Reidsville from Southern Virginia after the Civil War. He married Martha Reid Penn, and my brother has a large portrait of her. It is treasured in our family.
We have not been able to find anything on Dr. Thomas Hughes's family. My mother was the daughter of James Thomas Boswell from Graham, NC (or close by). My grandmother was Susan Caroline Swing Boswell and grew up in Davidson County
NC. Her ancesters were Workman(supposedly Wurzman in Germany before they came to America. One early name we have is Count Henry Workman(Wurzman), one of the first ones in US. The family records were lost in a fire, and the family Bible was stolen. My grandmother and her sisters wrote down what they remembered. The connection to John Howland of the Mayflower came down through the Waitt family. I am also looking for material on the Pleasant family of Johnston County,
and Harnett County, NC. My ex-husbsnd's family included Callie Thomas Pleasant, William Glenn Pleasant, etc. I want this for my children.
