JOSEPH POFELSKI (1-1-1862 to 1-8-1942) & JULIANA GAWLOWSKI (3-30-1866 to 10-3-1935) dtr of Icquac Gawlowski) of Graudenz, Poznan, Poland came to USA on Steamship STUTTGARD into Baltimore, Maryland harbor on 22 Mar 1893 and settled in Chicago, Illinois.
According to the family story they had buried 4 children in Poland I have identified Bernard, Anna, Franciska from Catholic birth and death records in Graudenz, Poland- have not found the 4th child . They brought with them to America two dollars and two daughters: MARTHA (1886-1954)who mrd Stanley Piszcaek <CELIA> & MARY (1892-1985) who mrd Joseph Trzosowski <FLORENCE, VIRGINIA, LILLIAN, ROSELLA & JOSEPH> They were of the Catholic faith.
Had other children born in Chicago, IL: JOHN(1894) who mrd Sophie Grabryszewski <HAROLD, JOHN, WILLIAM> ANTHONY (1896-1954) who mrd Stella Jagodzinski <CECELIA, DOROTHY, LORRAINE, ESTELLE, RICHARD & JERRY> BLANCHE (1898-1973) who mrd Edward Smogolski <EDWARD, RONALD & DELPHINE>
JOSEPH (1901-1951) who mrd Bessie Stezskal <JAMES & ROBERT>
GERTRUDE (1909) who mrd Casimer Urban <ELAINE, JOAN & ANDREW> CELIA (1912) who died age 5, STANLEY who died age 3. I have not found documentation on him: birth, death, burial.
Joseph had been a farmer in Poland & was a florist in Chicago as per the 1900 & 1910 Census. He was naturalized 10-15-1900. Joseph & Juliana & Celia buried at Parish of All Saints, W. Charleston St., Chicago,IL.
