A chios family dated back the beginning of 18th c.The surnane "Polites" may be not the original one. "Polites" means in Greek citizen or originated from "Polis, e.g. Constantinople in Turkey. Families named Polites are met in islands of Chios, Crete, Syros, Naxos, Paros all in Aegean Sea also in Corfu and Leykada in Ionian Sea. My family does not appear have connection with same named-families in other parts of Greece or in Chios.Any information welcomed.
