My Name is Carol Betteridge-Fitzgerald, I am attempting to do research on my grandfather, William Betteridge, born in Bingham, England, May 01,1896. He was the son of John and Margaret Betteridge, nee Wheeler. I am assuming that John Betteridge was born around the time period of 1870-1876. He also was born in England. My grandfather William Betteridge came to Canada around 1912, we believe and we are not sure if he lander at Riviere Du Loup Quebec, or Saint John, New Brunswick. He later moved to Campbellton, NB and married Barbara Grace Adams, in January of 1914. He joined the 55th North Shore Regiment in Sussex, New Brunswick in August 1915 and sailed to England on the Corsician. In April 1916 his regiment joined with the 26th. regiment in England and went to France. He was killed in action
at the Battle of the Sommes on September 16th. 1916. We are sure that he came to Canada with one sister, whom we believe to be named Bessie. We have no ide where she went or who she married.
