About Our Family Research

Just getting started. Found some information on the net. Something about the "Battle of Hastings". From earlier research, befor the internet, I know my great Grandfather came from Ireland to Newfoundland, settled on Merasheen island, around 1800. This is some of the information I have found so far.

" The surname was recorded in Devonshire where they were seated from very early times and were granted lands by Duke William of Normandy, their liege Lord, for their distinguished assistance at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 A.D".
