Corporal Charles Kay served with the 11th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers, killed in action on the 9th July 1916. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France (Pier and Face 3C and 3D), the memorial is off the D73 main Bapaume to Albert Road (D929).

Charles Kay was born in Salford and enlisted in Manchester. The last known address of this family was Grandvillle Place. Pollard Street, Ancoats, Manchester.
