I have been researching the lineage of my family for the past five years. The past is very hazy with few details emerging from relatives; I do know we originate from the Vilkomir (Ukmerge)/Vilnius region of Lithuania and that my ggrandfather emigrated to the UK in 1906. I am also sure that PORT was not the original surname although as a surname it seems common in Lithunia. My grandfather did tell me the surname but as I was only six at the time I really can't remember.

The family have spread around the globe - we believe there may be other branches in Australia and South America (probably Venezuela). I am in close contact with many of the relatives in New York and in Cape Town but would like ot meet many more.
