So far, I don't know that much about my family's history. We think that there is a possibility that our last name might have started out as PorrataDoria, but we are still trying to figure it out. My grandfather died years ago, and we believe that he shortened his name to Porrata. We do know however thatv our name is very well-know in Puerto Rico, where my father and his siblings were born. There are various places such as, a street, a memorial and a museum (an exhibit in the museum) named after or dedicated to either Porrata or PorrataDoria. The belief is that our name originated in Italy and that is where our ancestry stemmed from.
