Wilson family of Champaign, IL - and Kansas

Updated March 24, 2004

About Our Family Research

My mother wrote a partial family history of the Wilsons, who resided in Champaign, Ill. in the 1800s; she neglected to include her maternal grandfather Wilson's first name! His wife was Emily Ann Coon Wilson.
Mr. Wilson served in Union Army as a wheelwright; on Sherman's March to the Sea. Got disentary, medical discharge. Took money and moved family from Champaign to homestead in Kansas. Two daughters, May Wilson (b. 1887) and Emily Alice Wilson (b. Feb. 27 0r 28, 1888) in Kansas. Two children, Grace and (?) died. Family, including sons, one named ORRIE Wilson, returned to Champaign in Prairie Schooner. Family (Wilson), descendants of Samuel Wilson ("Uncle Sam" of NH and Troy, NY.
Hope to pin down first name of my great grandfather Wilson, to further trace this line of family history.
