Have traced roots back to my great-great-grandfather, Ottavio Porrello who married Carmela Amato. They had my great-Grandfather Angelo Porrello, born in 1852 or 1953 in Licata, Agrigento, Italy. (Ottavio and Carmela also had a daughter named Grazia.)
Angelo married Francesca Tardino. They both immigrated to USA around 1915 and died in the 1930s in Cleveland, Ohio.
I recall hearing that we had an Uncle Gaspare Porrello in Sicily who was an old man in roughly the 1960s.
Angelo Porrello and Frances Tardino had seven or eight sons, possibly an Ottavio (who died young), and Rosario, Angelo, Vincenzo (Jim), Giuseppe (Joe), Giovanni (John), Ottavio (given his deceased brother's name)andRaimondo (Raymond). Four of these sons were killed in Cleveland between 1930 and 1932 in Prohibition-era, bootleg violence. Raymond was my grandfather.
Research into his 1932 murder led me to write the book The Rise and Fall of the Cleveland Mafia (1995).
Any information about my Sicilian ancestors would be appreciated.
