About Our Family Research


Potter Family Genealogy of the Creed Flannery Potter and Ida Fuller Family Researched and Compiled by Annette Yvonne Potter and Joel Martin "Marty" Potter.

Creed Flannery Potter was born 2 September, 1902 in Letcher Co., KY. He was the son of Joel Martin Potter and Eliza Frances Reynolds Potter Davis. Our Dad, Creed had children with two of his 3 wives. Children with his 1st wife, Sarah Rose Robinson whom he married in 1922, and his children with his 3rd wife, our Mom, Ida Fuller. Creed married 2nd to Elizabeth Betty Brown; no children.

Creed had eleven (11) known children Nine (9) of which lived to maturity. From these 9 children 22 known Grandchildren were born. From these 22 Grandchildren, 50 known Great Grandchildren were born. From these 50 Great Grandchildren there are presently about 30 known Great Great Grandchildren.

Dad filed for divorce from 1st wife Sarah Rose Robinson and the divorce was granted 30 August 1933. Sarah remarried to Denver Fields. Dad married 2nd on 16 March 1936 in Vicco, Perry Co KY to Elizabeth "Betty" Brown. Dad filed for divorce from Betty and their divorce was granted 17 April 1939. Dad and Betty had no children together to my knowledge.

Children of Creed Flannery Potter and Sarah Rose Robinson;

Fred Lee Potter married Ruby Potter.

Creed Flannery Potter Jr died at less than 2 years of age.

Washie Flannery Potter died at less than 6 mos of age.

Ralph Waldo Potter married Macy Emma Austin and Cleo Potter

Archie Vincent Potter married Vera Edith Mullins.

Dan Morgan Potter married Ivalee Profitt.


Our Mom, Ida Fuller, was our Dad's 3rd marriage. Mom is the daughter of Leona Smith and Elijah Green Fuller. Children of Creed Flannery Potter and 3rd Wife Ida Fuller;

Billie Joyce Potter (step daughter of Creed Potter, d/o Coy Johnson and Ida Fuller Potter).

Clark Potter married Kaie Marlene Steely.

Joel Martin Potter "Marty" b 1941 - d 2006, married Judy Burkland.

David Potter married Dianne Marie Stewart.

Annette Potter married Gary Sorrell, Lindsey Thompson, John Holiman, Chris Bailey, and Ron Buford.

Leona Carlene Potter married Jake Walton Burkland.


Dad was Secretary of the Hemphill United Mine Workers Association. He was in the coal hauling business and he and our mother, Ida Fuller owned and operated a taxi cab company together.

Our dad, Creed Flannery Potter, is buried in the Reynolds Cemetery, Seco, Kentucky. His Mother, (Our Grannie) Eliza Francis Reynolds Potter Davis, Grannie's father, Noah Milburn Reynolds and dad's 1st wife, Sarah Rose Robinson, are buried nearby him in the cemetery.

A very huge thank you to our brother, Marty Potter for his many hours of contributions to this genealogy website. We are especially grateful for his photography expeditions, and his historical research and collection. Our brother, Marty passed away on 10 August, 2006 and we miss him so very much. Things will not be the same without him, and we could not have done our research without Marty's many many hours of dedicated work.
