John Ogden (son of Richard Ogden and Elizabeth Huntington)196, 196 was born 19 Sep 1609 in England, and died May 1682 in BP, England. He married Jane Bond on 08 May 1637, daughter of Jonathan Bond.

John Ogden came to Southampton, Long Island, NY in 1640 with his wife Jane Bond Ogden, son John, and twins David and Jonathan. He was a leader among settlers in founding the town. He later moved to Stamford, CT, Hempstead, Long Island, back to Southampton, and in 1665the was a founder of Elizabethtown, NJ. In 1673 he was the acting Governor of East Jersey.

David Ogden,1639-1691, son of John, moved from Elizabethtown to Newark in 1676, where he is described as a "stone church builder."
Elizabeth Swaine, wife of David Ogden, was first married to her cousin Josiah Ward. At the time that the Bradford colonists came to Newark she is said to have been the first to land.
