Richard Carleton Sr. was born ca 1720 in Argleshire,Scotland. Richard and his wife Mary ____ were married in Pennsylvannia. Before moving to Craven County, N.C. Richard was listed in the 1739 North Carolina Colonial Record, in Chowan County and received a land grant of 180 acres in Craven County, Province of North Carlina, June 4th, 1740. Richard Carleton was a foot soldier commanded by Captian Thomas Graves in Craven County; N.C. Jan. 1751. His will was presented the 6th of May 1790 in Craven County, N.C. Naming issues: Richard, Thomas, Blake, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Lydia, Samuel, and Frankey. Another son John, whose name was omitted in the will of 1790, but was included in the original will, which was found in in the Archives Library at Raleigh, N. C. John had probably received his inheritance earlier. We have accounted for most of the children. There is a record of a Richard Carleton in Philidelphia, PA.listed as a cobbler. My linage is through Thomas Carleton,Sr. son of Richard & Mary Carleton was born in Chester County Pennsylvania, May 10th, 1747.
Willis [William] Lamb was born January 15th, 1817, died May 20th, 1873 in Bedford County TN. He married Sept 4, 1838 to Nancy Crick was born Feb. 23rd 1820 and died July 20, 1847. Willis Lamb's second wife was Naomi Crick Covington born in Dec. 28, 1817. She was the daughter of Larkin Anderson Covington born 1796, died ca 1869 and ann S. Menifee, born 1799. Willis and Naomi married Oct. 12, 1848. Willis was listed on their marriage license as William Lamb. On the 1860 Census he stated he was born in S.C. We have not been able to find Willis's parents.
