Have worked hard on finding the information on Charles F. Gaines. Can find marriage records for him but cannot find a birth record on him. It has been said that he changed his name from Crawford to Gaines, after deserting to the South in the Civil War. Sure do need help with this person. He married Elizabeth Damral in 1869 in Scioto County, Ohio and then after she died he married Mary Ellen Francis Frazier in 1888 also in Scioto County, Ohio. He died there also. Census records say he was from New Hampshire. He had 19 children from these marriages: they are:
