My parents, grandparents and greatgrandparent have all lived in the same general area of Ray County MO. Surnames include Ashley, Gryder, Minnick, Duffett and Decker.

The Duffett family has the only organized family reunion, held in July each year now for 51 years. The Ashleys are more hap hazzard with their family reunions usually revoloving around an anniversary or birthday of one of the patriarchs.

My husband's family is Proffitts and Smitheys living in Ray County MO. His mother's family is Engelbrecht and Pollmann who were German immigrants to south Missouri. The Proffitt family goes back to very early Ray County history. Some branches have reunions and many are into geneology. The Engelbrechts do not have reunions, but there are a few of them who do come to visit in Ray County occasionally.
