My Slovenian Side of the Family

About Our Family Research


I am just begining to research my family and I am first looking at my maternal grandparents. My grandmother came from Slovenija in 1932 under the name Marija Zolakor Lesjak. My grandfather was born in the US, but his parents came from Slovenija. The current spelling of the family name is Benedict, but the orignial spelling was Benedichchi. Due to how Slovenian names used to be written, I believe the name could have originally been spelled Benedis>c>i.
