My research begins with my father Mills Edward Pruden III, born in Suffolk, Nansemond County, Virginia in 1943. He is the fourth of eight children. His next four siblings were born in Roxobel, Bertie County, North Carolina. His father, Mills Edward Pruden Jr moved to Roxobel to open the Pruden Welding Shop. The business is still in operation today, run by my uncle Sammy Pruden.
My grandfather Mills Edward Pruden Jr (born 8 May 1916) was the only son of Mills Edward Pruden Sr (born 8 Apr 1845) with his second wife Nannie Dee Babb. M.E. Pruden Sr's parents were Mills Pruden (born 18 Jan 1808) and Sarah.
I believe Mills Pruden's parents were John Pruden (born about 1779 in Isle of Wight County, VA) and Mourning Watkins (born 19 or 29 Aug 1775). This is as far back as I have been able to reach so far.
I have located several different branches of the Pruden family in Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, and then their are those up in Canada. I believe that at least some of us must be linked, but I have not yet discovered definitive proof.
I am having a very good time with the project and the Internet makes the research and contact with other genealogists move along at a very enjoyable pace. I have my current research posted on my website at http://www.Pruden.net
I invite and welcome all comments, additions and corrections. Adam Kirk Pruden
