The O'Reillys of Sacramento & Oakland, California

Updated July 5, 2003

About Our Family Research

Trying to find out where my family got the name of O'Reilly. Our ethnic background does not coincide with being Irish. I'm trying to trace the name back to the possibility of slavery. Although there may be come actual Irish blood in the family since my mother and I had a lot of red in our brown hair, my brothers did not. But from what I have learned my family is more African-American than anything else. Although we definitely look more white than black, the Black side is more prominent in the hair of my brother's. I have no information beyond my Grandfather, and that is only his name, DOB and DOD.
I only know he lived and died in Sacramento, California. Do not know where he was born or who his wife or children were.
