The surname "Pydlek" originates in a town/county seat of Poland known as Kolbuszowa (chartered 1690) in Galicia state or region in the southeastern part of the country. This region, through the years, has been part of Germany or Austria as well as Poland. No research has been done there to learn more about the name's origin. A likely place to start would be the local parish dating from 1312 or local St. Stanislaw's Chapel in the public cemetary. Stanislaw Pydlek (abt 1861) and Francis Anna Domino are the great-great grandparents of a line of Pydleks that settled in the Chicagoland and Detroit area. Though they never emigrated, their children did emigrate to the USA around 1900. Some came through Ellis Island Immigration Center and their entries are documented there. Some came through other ports of entry still to be determined and settled in areas on the east coast (New Jersey?).
The research shown here to create this family tree is a work in progress. Data obtained comes through personal interviews, birth/death records, on-line research including Polish and catholic church records and the Ellis Island Registry.
