About Our Family Research

My family search began (sadly) after my father passed away in 2000. My interest in bagpiping led me to search out any linkage to a Scot heritage. When we were making funeral arrangements for Dad, his mother's maiden name jumped out at me -- McBane. It was after this that I became interested in pursuing family history. I joined the Colorado branch of McBain clan and began asking family. I wrote to Dad's cousin, but I'm still waiting for an answer to questions. I was reminded that my grandmother (Dad's mother) was buried in Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, but was an unmarked grave. I called my cousin, Linda to go there with me to find it. I decided to purchase a marker, since my brother told me that Dad had always hoped to get one. It was installed on Dec. 16, 2004. I am now trying to piece together family trees and have purchased the program.
