Russell Richard("Pete") Quick married Nellie Lulu Marshall in or around LaBelle, Missouri. They had two children: Florence Lucille Quick, and Nathaniel Lawrence Quick. Mr. Quick for some unknown reason left his family and no one that I know of knows what happened to him. A. C. Quick, in his THE QUICK FAMILY IN AMERICA, 1942, lists R. R. Quick, but no one responded to Mr A.C Quick's efforts to obtain R. R. Quick's birth and/or death dates.
My grandmother and the two children (my aunt and my father) lived in Tingley, Ringgold County, Iowa, per 1920 census (Mr. Kenneth Quick of Redding, Iowa, kindly researched this information for me a couple of years ago. This Quick family, as far as I know, are not related to my Quick family. At least Mr. Kenneth Quick checked with his son in Tingley and said he had nothing in his records about any Russell Richard ("Pete") Quick.)
My father never spoke of his father. I found out from my fathers half-brother (his father was a Cameron) that his impression while growing up in the family was that the Marshalls either paid R. R. Quick to leave the family, and/or they forced him to leave. He also was under the impression that the family (Marshall) taught my father and his sister to hate Mr. R. R. Quick.
It has been quite an ordeal for me not to find out about my grandfather. [My mother's side of the family was a tragedy due to my grandfather shooting and killing my grandmother and then killing himself with the same gun at the same time and place.
I didn't know about this until I was in college.] My parents never talked about their parents, yet we visited both sides of
the family (my fathers kinfolk and my mothers kinfolk)frequently.
I hope SOMEONE reading this will know an answer to my problem,
or can give me direction as to where to look for my grandfathers history.
The parents of Russell Richard Quick were George Washington Quick and Phoebe Odwalt (he was born in Havana, IL 15 Jan 1852), per A. C. Quick's genealogy (ref p 312, I 1359). They had five children: 4 daughters: Eva Mae (Grace), Lulu Reta, Hazel Gertrude, Myrtle Ada; and 1 son Russell Richard.
Most of my research has been done on the internet, since I have not been able to travel yet to do my own research.
