My name is Wendy Leota Storm Quong. I've started searching for information on my Storm & King side. My father is Guy Norbert Storm, born 10/4/1921, who lives in Gulfport, Mississippi, but was born and raised in the Toledo and Mattoon Illinois area. His parents were Herman R. and Leota Storm.
I need information on my grandfather and grandmother's families. My grandfather was Herman Ross Storm and his wife was Lena Leota King Storm. Herman Ross was born in 5/21/1880 and died 2/2/1956. Lena Leota (called "0at") was born 4/1/1887 and died 12/18/1952.They are buried in Mullen's Cemetery near Montrose, Ill. My father is the youngest & only living son of the 6 boys and 4 girls that was born to my grandparents.
Herman Ross' father was called Thomas Randall Storm, born in 1842 and died around 1920. His wife was named Martha A., last name unknown. She was born in 1841 and died 1918. I was told that they are buried somewhere in Toledo, Ill.(Cumberland Co.). This area use to be known as Prairie City, Ill. They had another son, Hiram E. Storm, b. 1861 and d. 11/25/1883 while in prison for fighting in the streets. It was said that Hiram refused to fight for the jailers with other prisoners so, they beat him to death for refusing! He's buried in Toledo along with his parents. This is all that I have on Herman's side.
Lena Leota's father was Charles L. King and all I know is that his wife's last name was Cheney. I have no dates on them. Do know that they are buried in Hugo Cemetery near Tuscola, Ill. They had at least 2 sons;Cedric King (dates unknown,who had 2 sons, Darrell King and Charles King)& Jess King b.5/8/1882 & d. 1/1967, his wife was called Laura (?).
