Joseph Simpson and Mary Ann Telfer were married at Carlisle Registry office Feb 02 1868 and at the time lived at Trinity Buildings, Carlisle. I think they were both born in Cumberland but havent found where. They gave birth to a son Joseph Simpson on March 22 1868 and at the time they lived at 'Catsbit' Rowansburn, Dumfries, Scotland.
The 1881 census records a family living near York and all known names match my own records so they moved sometime here from Rowansburn. Joseph b22/03/1868 was my great grandfather and my grandfather when alive told of his father comming from 'Catsbit' Bellingham, Northumberland. Obviously some confusion here but I think they must have left 'Catsbit' Rowansburn and maybe moved to Bellingham before York.
Joseph married Ann Welch Aug 17 1898 and from here the family lived at Evenwood County Durham.
I will post a lot more details to this home page shortly but having just started my family tree I would be gratefull of any help or advice in the next step, especially in finding where Joseph Simpson ( b1844 abt d27/05/1911 )was born. Also his wife Mary Ann Telfer ( b1845 abt d23/05/1913
