I have been researching my husband's family for about 15 years. I have a funeral record showing that James Robert Rachels, Sr. was buried in Greenwood, Arkansas and that his father's name was Miles Rachels. His mother's name was only give as Johnson...no first name. His wife shows on her tombstone in Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood, AR as Mary L. Rachels. Living relatives say that her maiden name was Nash. However, I have an application for Social Security by her 3rd oldest son that gives his mother's name as Mary Elizabeth Rachels. Living relatives say that her name was Mary Lucy Nash Rachels. I cannot find birth certificates on either nor can I find marriage lines. Miles' mother may have immigrated to American from Ireland as there is an indication by whoever filled out the funeral home's information that she was from Ireland. James also had brothers one named George, one name Alec or Alex and also a sister who married a man named Joe Broadhead who may have been living in Calera, Alabama. I can't find any info on these people that would "for sure" tie them into our line.
