I do not know very much of my family history, only that our family originated in the Cumberland gap area, after moving to America and that the original spelling of our last name did not have an "e" in it. In other words it was spelled Rains. My great grandfather, who is still alive, was born in Vicksburg MS. His name is Timothy Raines. My grandfather was named John Edward Raines. Please if anyone thinks that they might know about my some of my family history, I would very much like to learn more.Thanks.
