I remember growing up and going to family reunions down to my aunt and uncles farms. These weren't normal 20 or 25 people family reunions. My father had 13 brothers and sisters and when we all got together there was over 250 of us. The tables of food were spread out so far it seemed to go on forever. My brothers and sisters met people we have never seen before and a lot we did remember. We always had plenty of kids to play with and never wanted to leave. One of thirteen children growing up in the farming community, of Nolensville,Williamson County,TN during the 1930's and 40's was a completely different life than it is today. Some people call it "the simple life" but there was nothing simple about it. I listen to my father's life and can't find anything simply about it. Today we have technology doing everything for us, and most people don't even appreciate what we have. Could you live more than 24 hours without electricity? Could your children survive without it? We need to teach our children and ourselves how to live first the way our parents and grandparents once lived and then maybe the United States will be able to survive the next 100 years. If something were to happen to our precious commodities right now, this minute, we would have to rely on our senior citizens to teach us how to live without technology. We have become slaves to it. Why not learn from our senior citizens now, while the ones closes to us are here.
