I have just started researching our family tree. On my mother's paternal side, I am researching information about the Phelan's, originally from Waterford City and possibly Kilkenny, Ireland. My mother came here in 1929 from Waterford City. Her name is Maura Josephine Phelan, married name, Leto. Her parents were William Albert Hewitt Phelan and Mary Ann Smyles, both of Waterford. William Phelan's parents were John (No middle name known) Phelan and Mary Ann Dalton. We have no information past that. I would like to research into the Phelan branch first, then the Dalton branch. William Albert Hewitt's sister was Minnie Phelan, who married Jack Cunningham. They had four daughters: Molly, Ellen, Frances, Kathleen, who were all born in New York City. Kathleen Cunningham married Orlando Rainone: one child: Kevin John Rainone, who is now my husband. (Married 1998) so our family branches are intertwined in more than one way! Kevin has two children from his first marriage, my stepchildren: Sean Joseph Rainone, age 12, and Krystan Nicole Rainone, age 8. It is for them that we would like to be able to show them a complete family tree. Eventually, when I finish the Irish side, I would like to explore my father's Italian roots, which began in Campo Fierito, near Palermo, Sicily, Italy. He had several brothers and sisters and some of our family tree has been researched by a distant cousin, who's name I cannot remember, but lived in Texas. My father's name was John Joseph Leto. Margaret Rose Rainone (nee; Leto)
