This project's goal is to determine the common ancestry, if any, of the families bearing these Surnames and to connect those with common ancestry to others of their family. We have found numerous spellings for the family, among them are Raleigh, Ralegh, Rawley, Rayley, Ralye, Raily, Railey, and Raley. There are no doubt other spellings that we have not uncovered. They are to be found in the early records of Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and in North then South Carolina. From the Carolinas the family migrated to Ala., Ms., Ga., Ky., Fla., and on to Tx, Okla., Ark., N.Mex., and Ca. Some went to Ohio, Kansas, OR, and WA. Several of us think that our line traces back to Charles born 1705 but lack evidence to provide positive proof.
