John6 (Tibbetts5,John4,John3,Thomas2,John1)Rathbun, was born about 1794 in Ostego County, N.Y., and died 27 Mar 1874, at the Tewksbury Almshouse in Tewksbury, Middlesex County, Mass.
He was the Son of Tibbetts Rathbun and Rebecca Straight. Tibbetts was born About 1755 in Exeter, R.I. and died 14 Jul 1820, at Hoosick, N.Y. Rebecca was born in 1756 and died 16 Mar 1847 in Delaware County, N.Y. They were married Sep 1775 in Exeter, R.I.
Tibbetts took part in The Revolutionary war. Among events he was involved in was General Sullivan's expedition.
John Mott Rathbun lived in New York state some of his life where he eventually married a Polly Leonard and Had a son Ephraim 7(Born 1825, died 1903) After this for some reason he moved to Petersham,Worcester County, Mass., changed his last name to Rathburn, and married in Petersham, Mass. 18 Aug 1837 a Mrs. Sarah Ann (Foster) Hodskins, widow of Simeon Hodskins and had the following children.

Valentine Orson7, born 1842, died 1906. (My Ancestor)
Hiram B., (twin)7 born 1844, died 1910.
Henry B., (twin)7 born 1844, died 1863.
Simeon7, born 1847, died 1923.
Charles Franklin7, born 1849, died 1918.
John Mott, Jr.7, born 1850, died 1906.
Martha A.7 born about 1854, death unknown
Christopher Columbus7, born about 1859, died 1937.
Sarah had a daughter Elizabeth (born 1836, died 1918) by her first husband Simeon Hodskins.
John's son Valentine was born 25 Jun 1842 in Petersham, Worcester, Mass. and died 12 Feb 1906, at Springfield, Mass. He married two times. He married as his second wife 1 Jan 1867, in Barre, Mass.,Mary Ann White. She was born 1844, in Braintree, Mass.and died 2 Jul 1880 Hopkinton, Mass.They had three children among whom was My Grandfather Heny Guilford Rathburn8.
Valentine served twice in the Civil War. The regiments he served were as follows, The 53rd Mass Volunteer Infantry and the 27th Mass/ Infantry Regiment.
Henry Guilford Rathburn8 was born 12 Sep 1869 in Hardwick, Worchester, Mass.and died 13 Dec 1960, in Orange, Franklin Mass. He married 9 Mar 1889 in Templeton, Mass, Anna Mariah Gay. who was born 29 Jun 1866 in New Salem Mass., and died 22 JUL 1945, at Athol, Worcester, Mass. they had six children among whom was my father Orson Henry Rathburn9, Sr.
Orson was born 16 June 1892 in Athol,Mass.,and died 5 oct 1970 in Orange Msss. he married as his first wife 12 Mar 1919, in Athol,Mass. Mary Louise Edson who was born 26 Oct 1892 in New Haven, Conn., and died in East Templeton, Mass. 12 Mar 1936.
My sister Anna Louise Angelini, my cousins,among whom are Geneva Ledford, Helen White, Elnora Coppolino and myself have researched the family of John Mott Rathburn, his ancestors, as well as his descendants for over forty years. We have also had much help from Frank Rathbun of Fairfax, Virginia and Rob Rathbun of Bowling Green, Kentucky. I have information on all eleven of his children Also able to carry his line to Emigrant ancestor John Rathbun of Block Island, Rhode Island.

Have a lot of information of not only this line but many other lines. Am willing to share with anyone any of this info that would help them. Have also researched the following lines- Edson-Towne-Lyman-Ames-Eames-Plympton-LeDuc-O'Donnell and others.
