The Ratteray Family of Bermuda Updated November 23, 2009
About Our Family Research
The genealogical voyage to discover the Ratteray family history began with a letter written in 1936 by Mary Hamilton Seymour, the daughter of the first Ratteray in Bermuda, Charles Roach Ratteray (1799-1872). Oswald Ratteray pursued some of the details in the 1970s with oral history interviews, confirmation of some details from family Bibles, and searches in the Bermuda Archives and in the National Archives, Washington, D.C. The story began to unfold further, beginning in 2002, as additional information was collected from other family members who had been searching their roots also during this period.
