I am researching my ancestors who came out to New Zealand in 1840's to 1880's.The Moore's, Smith's, Rounds & Price. I need information on their ancestors.
Joseph Dalton Moore came to NZ as a ships officer in the late 1860's and is rumoured to have jumped ship at Lyttelton and later worked with Arthur Dudley Dobson surveying early NZ. Probably worked on the Midland Railway inland from Springfield. Joseph married Ann Ellen Greenwood in Christchurch, NZ in 1873. Her parents were John Greenwood & Ann Burton.
Elisha Round married Grace Price and came to NZ in 1843 arriving in Nelson on the "Indus". He was part of the Militia that was involved in the Wairau Affray. He returned to England via Australia (Star of China) and came back to NZ with his family on the "Sebastopal" in 1861, settling in Christchurch. Elisha Round's parents were William Round (b.1796) & Hannah Ball (b.abt 1796. Grace Price's parents were Thomas Price (b. abt 1805) & Maria Duke (b. abt 1808).
John Smith (b. Dublin, Ireland) abt 1840 - married Hannah Maria Round (b. Nelson NZ abt 1844). It is thought that he could be the J Smith who can out on the Sebastopal in 1861. It is very difficult to trace a J. Smith !!
Alexander Rattray (b. Dundee, Scotland) married Jeannie Louise Jones (b. Berkenhead, England) in 1890 after coming out to NZ. Don't know what ship they arrived on, but could have been abt 1876.
Timothy Martin Todd (b.1820 Parham, England) married Avis Shildrick (b.1823 Bottisham, England) in 1853 at Christchurch, New Zealand. Both came to NZ prior to 1953, but when & how.
Other Name in Tree: Daniel Greenfield, Mary Greenfield (b. 1721), Sarah Biram (b. abt 1745), William Bannister, Elizabeth Bannister (b.1776), Thomas Bannister (b. 1749), Sarah Taylor, John Bill, Robert Bill, Jane Bill (b. 1752), Lynda Hurst.
