About Our Family Research
Very little known about my Rea family except my Grandfather Joseph Rea had one or two sisters and he came to work on a farm at Whitehead Co.Antrim about 1900 before going to Canada in 1906 to work on Canadian Pacific Railway construction. He returned to Whitehead in 1910 and married my Grandmother Ruth L.Cambridge. I have, since starting my searches, found my great-grandfather to be Thomas Rea and his wife to be Elizabeth. They lived in Belfast where he was a Butler. I have traced my Cambridge family back to Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandfather Robert Cambridge. They all lived in Knocknagullagh townland near Whitehead, Co.Antrim. My mother was Maud Higginson and she married Wm.Thos.Rea in 1940 Higginson tree is based around Ballinderry/Aghalee Co.Antrim. I have traced my Gt.Grandfather James Higginson and his wife Annie Magee to Brackenhill near Ballinderry Co.Antrim where they married in 1871. James had at least 4 sons born 1872-1884. I am using the Public Records Office in belfast,Church of Latter Day Saints Belfast facilities and General Register Office, Newspaper Archives and Linenhall Library for my research. I have also obtained copies of marriage and birth certificates from Dublin Registrar General records.
