The John C. Reasor Family of Texas

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

I am researching the Reasor family of Grayson County, Texas.

I am searching for info concerning my ggggrandfather, George Reasor and his wife, Jane (surname unknown). Their son, Christopher Drake Reasor was my gggrandfather. George was born in Pennsylvania in 1801, but I have not been able to discover any other information about him.

George and Jane had five children born in Pennsylvania and then moved to Chemung County, New York. They had four children born in New York. I believe that George, Jane, and their son George, are buried in New York

Christopher Drake Reasor and his family came to Tolbert, OK (by way of Missouri) with the MK&T Railroad. The railroad stopped there because there was no bridge across the Red River. The exact date is not known, but is believed to be in the early 1860s and Denison then was named Red River City. C.D. and his family then moved to Macon City, Missouri. By 1880 the family had moved to Grayson County, Texas where C.D. purchased land for a dairy.

CD and his wife had 5 children: Elmer who died in his late 20's or early 30's; Ellie who married Jim Ball; John Comstock who married Mary Ellen Morrell (my ggrandparents); Edgar Reasor (born in MO) who married Eugenia Looney; George Reasor who married Vitna Scott.
