Ancestry of Jon & Irene Redpath

Updated February 12, 2013

About Our Family Research

This page is in the process of being revised. Some information has been moved to the Redpath and Whiteoak Family Forum - see link at the bottom. Photographs from both sides of the family have been moved to the R & W Forum and the Whiteoak Forum for sorting and more accessible display.

Jon's family are mainly from East Lothian and Midlothian (paternal) and Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire (maternal). Amongst the surnames mentioned are: Redpath, Scott, Forbes, Muir, Manderson, Anderson, Wilson, Drysdale (Scotland) and Gerring, Goddard, Hobbs, Hawkins (England).

His ancestors were mostly farm workers, with the majority of the men being farm servants, or ploughmen.

Irene's family are from Yorkshire (paternal) and Sussex (maternal). The principal surnames are: Whiteoak, McCready, McCarthy, Metcalfe, Greenwood, Duckworth, Green, Barrett (Yorkshire) and Budgen, Trussler, Dapp, Wilson (Sussex).

Many of my Yorkshire ancestors were in the weaving trades: handloom weavers, and later machine weavers and wool sorters. The Sussex family were mainly farmers, pork butchers and carpenters.

If you are researching the Whiteoak surname, please look at my WHITEOAK Home Page or the Whiteoak Family Forum (follow the links below).

I hope to add more gravestones to the "Virtual Cemetery" as I find them. At the moment I have only submitted a few Redpath inscriptions, plus Duncan, Drysdale and Hannah.

If you want to add some information to what you see here, or correct anything, or ask a question, please visit the Redpath and Whiteoak Forum, or the Whiteoak Forum, at the links given. This will protect both your own e-mail address (which will be invisible) and mine from the spam pests. New details are always welcome!
