As a child, my dad always told me that the Maxfields were descended from the passangers on the Mayflower. Several years ago, he sent me a typed and taped together patchwork of pages-the pedigree chart that my Great Aunt Cora, along with help from my Great Uncle Ulysess Grant, had put together. There were no references, just vital statistics that led our line to Francis Cooke, Susanna Winslow, and James Chilton. Discovering the Elizabeth Wright whose work "Maxfield Family" was presented to the Genealogical Society at Salt Lake City and published in the NMGR, as well as meeting helpful e-researchers such as Raymond Wing of the Wing Family of America, Charles Maxfield, Max Maxfield, Richard Coleman, and, on the Brady side, Duana Blakey and Catherine Lee, I managed to find the sources that led to an application accepted by the Mayflower Society: a family legend finally proved true.
