Thomas Reed(Read)and Dolly Letson are the begining to my family tree.They begin in the Maryland area from either Ireland or Scotland. Their son John married Eleanor Ross. John and Eleanor had Alexander Read.
Alexander was a revolutionary soldier in Captain Richard Smith's flying camp. He married Jemima Alexander. Their son Alexander married Martha Jordan(and Elizabeth Reed, Mary Polly Ferguson). Alexander and Martha had Amos Read(Reed). .
Amos Married Sina Reed. Amos and Sina were in the Clearfield Co. Pennsylvania area for numerous years. They had chidren: Benjamin Read, James Phineas Read, Francis A. "Frank" Read, Susanna J Read and Matthew William Read(Reed). Matthew Reed married Jemimah Mclinsey. They had several children including: David Lewis Reed, Mamie (Reed)Bright, James Reed, Charles Reed and Arvey (Reed)Graves. Jemima later married a Wright and lived in Grampian, Clearfield Co.Pennsylvania in 1911 whenhe mother died.
David Lewis Married Leet anna Christian. They had my grandpa Lewis Marion Reed along with Ivan Reed, Lila Reed and Lorene Reed. The two girls died young. Lewis died in Tulsa Co Oklahoma in 2001.David lived his later years around the Okmulgee Co.Oklahoma area.
Mamie married John Bright. Mamie and John lived in the three Rivers Michigan area around 1907. John died 31,Jan 1912 when a train crushed him. Their children were: Ted ,Charles and Mabel. Mamie was adopted out by the Hary or Henry Robbins family and is in the Woods Co.Oklahoma Census in 1900. Mr Robbins married Mary C. Evert who had married William Bright and is the mother of John Bright. John must ahve Met Mamie through his mother. Mamies obituary list her as Marim J. Bright b. 6Mar 1884 Pennsylvania. She died 31 Dec 1963 in a Shattuck, Ellis Co. Oklahoma hospital. The obituary states she was married to John W.
Bright 1904 Coffeyville,Montgomery Co.Kansas.
James "Jim" Reed never married and was a farmer in the Roll Rogermills Co.Okla area. Mamie moved in with James after John was killed.
Charles Reed worked on the railroad for the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul. I saw one post card he sent to David Reed inscribed "Your bro, C.L.Reed to D.L.Reed" Roll Oklahoma and dated 25 December 1913. He and several partners were standing beside a C.M & StP caboose. Grandpa (Lewis Reed)said he was last known to live in Miles city, Montana. I believe I located Charles being raised by the Zachry Greer family in 1900 Lowell, Rooks Co.Kansas.
Arvey was a Reed but was adopted by Martin L. Graves and Susanna Gregory. He had one adopted sister, Bessie Graves who married Aaron Lawrence Harter. Arvey was a cook in the Kansas home gaurd in 1917. He had worked as a Chef at the Hotel Worthington in Herrington Kansas. His draft registration card showed he was a Chef for S.M.Daily in Herrington Kansas 1917. The card was signed, Arvey Jesse Graves dated June 5, 1917. He married Alice McPhail and had three daughters: Greta, Vera and Helen. (the first two went by Hazel at different times). Arvey died 9 Sep 1919 when a train engine, he was painting, exploded. He was living in Herrington Kasnsas at the time of his death. Arveys obituary reads that he was a Presbytarian church member and told everyone he was prepared to die, after being burned by the train explosion.He died at a Wichita Kansas hospital. I recently located Arvey and Alice being married in Wallace Co. Kansas 20 Sept 1909.There was a Graves family living there but unknown if they are part of Arveys adopted family.
John Audry Wise was a halfbrother to these siblings. His mother is Jemima and Father is unknown. He was born 16 Nov 1880 in Clearfield Co.Pennsylvania. He married Ella Pearl Snooks(Snook) 16 Aug 1904 Perry, Noble Co.Oklahoma. Matthew Lived with John and Ella for the last few years of his life.
