1. POLLY2 SPEAR (SAMUEL1) was born 06 Oct 1803 in Virginia, and died 01 Jun 1877. She married ABSOLOM ELLIOTT 09 Apr 1824. She was born 16 Jul 1793 in Pennsylvania, and died 26 May 1882.

Marriage date is 9 or 19th of April, 1824.
Birth date is 1803 or 1805.
Member of the United Brethren Church.

Notes for ABSOLOM ELLIOTT:
Elder in the Presbyterian Church at time of death.
Country doctor.

Most of Absolom's early life was spent in Clark County, Indiana. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, guarding the frontier settlements of Southern Indiana against the Indians who were hostile at the time.

Worked some on the Ohio River, going to New Orleans on a flat boat and walking back.

Married Polly Spear and settled in Clark County, Indiana where he lived until 1833 then moved to Westport. He walked to Jeffersonville, Indiana and entered a homestead there. He lived there until his death.

The Elliots of English decent while the Spears are of Irish decent.

Lieutenant in the War with Mexico and helped capture Mexico City.

Notes for SAMUEL ELLIOTT:
Soldier in Union Army, was wounded and captured at Franklin, Tennessee. He was taken to Richmond, Virginia where he died.

viii. CLARISSA ELLIOTT, b. 20 Nov 1841; m. OSCAR WHIPPLE, 1866.

2. ANN BUOYCOURT3 ELLIOTT (POLLY2 SPEAR, SAMUEL1) was born 28 Apr 1834 in Westport, Indiana, and died 03 Feb 1873 in Bates County, Missouri. She married WILLIAM B. REED 24 Mar 1857, son of JEREMIAH REED and SARAH SMITH. He was born 14 Jul 1829 in Ohio.

Attended Hartsville, University for several terms before getting married in 1857.
Was member of United Brethren Church.

Lived in Hartsville, Indiana until 1866 then moved to Bates County, Missouri.

Notes for WILLIAM B. REED:
(fourth child of Jeremiah B. and Sarah Reed) married Ann Buoycourt Elliott on March 24, 1857. He attended college at Hartsvill, Indiana. Moved to Bates County, Missouri in March of 1866 and had 7 children. Died July 27, 1911 (42nd birthdy of Lyman Elliot Reed his son). Lived in Hartsville, Indiana until 1866 then moved to Bates County, Missouri.

Notes for WILLIAM RILEY REED:
After Ann Elliott Reed died in Feb 3, 1873 in Bates County, Missouri he went to live with his Uncle Jeremiah Riley Reed and his Grandmother Sarah Reed. This because Jeremiah B. Reed (his father) got a notion to go to Colorado so he split the kids up to seperate places. The family that took Anna moved to Iowas the next year and that has been her home ever since. Never saw Anna again until 1888, 15 years later. Mary went to Ohio and stayed with Uncle Elias Jasper R
