Am looking for information about the descendents of Peter Barbey (b1825) from Dierbach, Canton Bergzabern, Rinepflaz, Bavaria. Peter's wife was Rosina, their first born son John (1852) came to Reading PA with them in 1856. Peter established a brewery and in 1880 took John in as a partner and called it Peter Barbey & Son. Morton Montgomery states that Peter's son John studied brewing with his uncle Peter. That is the only thing I can find about that Peter(the uncle). His brother was named Christopher that is a guess from reading Morton Montgomery also. So it was Christopher and Peter Barbey from Dierbach etc.
I suspect that Christopher is somehow related to Jacob Frederick Barbey who Morton Montgomery says came from Germany. Jacob Frederick according to the same source had 3 sons, Jacob, John, and Daniel. John Frederick resided in NY state and I have found a match for him in the 1860 census from Erie County, NY which lists the family under the name spelled 'Barbi'. I have found a Jacob Barbey in the local cemetery who I think was the son of Jacob Frederick - the death certificate does not list the father's middle name. Is there any way to find out if this is the same person?
