I have researched online the ancestries of the Reece, Parks, Bearden, and Dorris surnames of my family tree. I have found that the Dorris' go back to James Dorris and his indian wife Nancy Cook, early settlers of what is now Roswell in Fulton County Georgia. James Dorris' father, William, came over from Holland?/County Down, Ireland?. James and Nancy Dorris immigrated to the Roswell area from Edgefield, SC around about the late 1820's to early 30's. James owned a store/trading post in the area. He and Nancy are buried in the old Rucker Family cemetery in Roswell. Their son, William C. Dorris, married Mary Galehaugh. Their son, John R. Dorris, married Margaret McGuire. Their daughter, Flossy Mae Dorris, married Emmett Ardell Reece and they had my father, Emmett Marvin Reece. I have been able to trace back my mothers Parks family all the way back to John Parks, b. 1644 in Ulster, Ireland. I have been unable to go back on the Bearden or the Reece lines of my family no more than about 3 generations. Information on the internet is limited.
