My grandfather (John Frederick Keyzer) was big man with white hair and very blue eyes. He tell stories of coming to America on a ship, with the weather so bad the seas rolling and the fog so thick you could cut it with a knife. He told of being in a typhoon. He had been a merchant seaman. He would sing to my brother and I in dutch, spanish, and I believe in german. He could speak 7 languages. He enlisted in the army 1817. He was mustered out on December 20, 1918. He married my grandmother (Argelia Rodriguez)on June 16, 1919. Grandmother was a beautiful spanish girl. They had 7 daughters. My mom being the oldest. She had twin sisters that were identical and they enjoyed pretending to be one another. My grandparents were married 31 years before my grandfather died. I wished I had been older to have taken notes about his family and my grandmothers family. Now I'm on a quest to find my ancestors. I've been doing my research for 7 years, I have found many distant cousins thru my search. I have also exchanged family files.
My research on my family surnames are for: KEYZER-JONKHOUT-HEYER- RODRIGUEZ-CARBONAY-VALDES-MENENDEZ.
My husband Clyde is for: BECKLEY-REED-HUEBNER-BROWN-CORNEALIUS- SMITH-WIANDT.
