In correspondence with Jan Camery Pientok during early 2002, Jeannine K. JSK1296@aol.com has provided some insight on who the veteran's marker came to be placed at Christian's gravesite:

"If you have not been in Sugar Grove Cemetery in the past couple years, you have not seen an addition to Christian's grave. I am a member of the US Daughters of 1812. My chapter marked his grave with a very nice ceremony and marker almost 3 years ago. There are a few Camerys left in the Henry area and I worked with Shirley Morse Quinn, a gr dau of Isaac W. Camery. She and I have become friends and she did pass along some of the information she had on her family."

Jeannine, from all the Desc. of Christian Camery, thank you & the US Daughters of 1812 for honoring Christian for his war time service with such handsome marker.

Jan Camery Pientok, her sister Joan Camery Prather & myself their niece Barbara Camery Reininger had been to the gravesite in September 2001. We noticed the marker & not knowing how it had come to be there, I drew a (very) rough sketch & fortunately it was good enough for Joan to find it on the internet & discover it's connection with the US Daughters of 1812.

Correspondence:

Hi Denise,
Sure hope you can help me. Our family history indicates the
Christian Camery and John/James Messick families moved to the Gambier, Ohio, area after 1830. In 1830 they were listed on a Rockingham Co.,Va, census and I can't find them anywhere until an Illinois 1860 census.

There were 12 children and the last 5 were born in Ohio. The older children(all boys) married Ohio girls. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Jan Camery Pientok
